Flying off to Fontainebleau!

Good morning from Iceland!

We have landed after a nice little six-and-a-half hour flight from Denver to Keflavík International Airport. Sadly, there were no Northern Lights to report on our flight over. The sun still hasn’t rose, it’s 7:26am, but maybe it’s just an overcast day. We’re sitting off to the side of the food hall in the airport, looking out at a rainy tarmac filled with IcelandAIr planes.

Now comes the hardest part of travel. Surviving until it’s an appropriate time to go to bed and gaslighting ourselves that we’re not that tired. It’s currently 9:24am Paris time, which means we really only need to stay up for another 12 hours. This is doable, maybe we just need two to six more cups of coffee, and make sure that little jet lag monkey doesn’t get the better of us.

Once we land at Charles de Gaulle airport, we’ll be taking a train from the airport to the city center and on out to Fontainebleau. Wish us luck for a smooth Airbnb check-in experience, it will be our home for two whole weeks!

This is actually one of our least planned trips we’ve done. We have a home base, we’re renting a car, and we have places we know we want to go, but there aren’t too many bookings or reservations, except the car and Airbnb. Our priorities are rock climbing, wine, carbs, and cheese in that order.Rest assured no wine will be consumed before rock climbing.

I can’t wait for that first croissant.

I can’t believe we can say we’re going back to France again. We are extremely grateful for this life we get to live, and we don’t take it for granted. Thanks to you all who are reading this for supporting our travels and for loving us so well.

Special shoutout to Mama Watson on her retirement (!) and for flying all the way to Colorado to watch Bronson and allow us another adventure.

Next stop: France!

  1. Sounds like you’re off to a great, if rainy, start. Before you know it, it’ll be Monday and you’ll be on French time. Bronson didn’t allow me an Bronson didn’t allow me a third of the bed to sleep in last night.Enjoy!
